April 2008 Newsletter.
Dear Friends,
Should we start with happy Easter??? In all, how are you? We give God the glory that at last we found at least time to write. In all we have every reason to thank God this far we have come. We are fine and doing well as a family and RUSH at large.
The year started on a very high note, our feet not yet on the ground even though its quarter way now. We thank God for the calm and peace we have in our country, thank you for your prayers. God remains God in all situations as a creator- nothing takes him by surprise.
RUSH ACADEMY:
By the grace of God, we thank Springfield Church for their kind donation which enabled us drill water at school, the children are now enjoying pure water . Again Springfield Church have raised money for purchase of the adjacent academy land that we need for the new nursery, wow!!! God is so faithful and wonderful for us. We also thank all friends who are supporting the school project, just to name the few , Kate Nash. On the Box Mission, Vineyard church, Joan Hadlow{RUSH UK}, Whyteleaf church, Leanne Coggan, Liz Noble and all that we have not mentioned. Due to your effort and concern we were able to get new parents who can pay something to help us run the school. However, we were able to open the school on time despite the crisis that were befalling our country. No other schools were able to open on time, but miraculously we were not interfered in any way, we had Gods protection.
Class five is doing well- thus our senior class this year. They performed very well in the exams that was tested in twenty other schools. Our children took first position most of the subjects!!!!. Due to that, the government offered a free tour to weather station which they gave time to teach on how it operates. It was good motivation to our school. Our head teacher is now one the members of district exam committee.
Our need this year is to build class six ready for next year and to build nursery block on the new land we are planning to purchase. We moved the two cows to school, but through a young youth who came to work with us for one year through on the box mission, she was able to raise money through their church and bought two good cows which we are expecting to start enjoying milk very soon and we shall also be selling some. When our children learns about zero grazing they do not go far to other farms, but they just walk down the field and there they learn through our own structure. We are also planning to start poultry for our children at least to have some eggs and also we can sell some to get some funds to help the school. Our cows names are black and white one is called HOLY, There is MARY and TRINITY, but we have named Mary?s calve.
We have put a new gate at school, those who have been here before might not notice the place. The population of pupils has increased thus both nursery and Primary. It blesses our heart to see these children running and playing in the field. Our vision is for these children to get quality education for their future life, despite their background. If you find time visit our website www.rushuk.org.uk
We have small library and thanks so much for supporting us buy 40 text books and some complimentary books. The money was raised through Vineyard Church. Because of new class which we are planning to build by the grace of God, we need more desks about 30 ready for next year.
SPONSORSHIP:
We have eight children in the school who are sponsored and due to this we were able to buy food and fuel for school bus and van for a month without strain. Thanks to all sponsors. The more our children can be sponsored the more we can become self-sufficient. Thus 180 pounds per year or 60 pounds per child per term{3month}can do plus 15 pounds for uniform that will last for 1-2 years.
RUSH GROUP: Through Liz Noble we are blessed to say that we now purchased a piece of land in Busia district ready for women who never settled for marriage but have children. Though this progress took some time because we wanted to purchase the land without any caution on it and get legal documents. God have lifted us from one level to another.
PASTORS CONFERENCE
This happened last November and we were all blessed. From that we have heard different and encouraging testimonies. To this day we are still giving out bibles as we preach the good news of the gospel. The Conference have brought unity in the churches and among Pastors of different churches. Thanks a lot brethren from Vineyard- Salisbury for fulfilling Mathew 5:9 and Mathew 28:19.
CRISIS IN OUR COUNTRY:
RUSH as a group were not affected much but brethren from other towns ran to us, were internally displaced but thank God, we were able to assist them to our level. However, we have two cases who came from Kibera Nairobi, we have been able to raise money and build for one who is a widow with four children. The remaining one has got 10 children called Fredrick Indakwa. Since he left home ? his house has fallen one side and during this rain season, its pathetic, it is one room house and thatched no different with a person sleeping out. So please pray that God will touch somebody to intervene in that situation. Thanks dear for your care and concern Mathew 25:35-36.
AGRICULTURE:
It is rain season again, we planted last week, maize and beans. We thank God for those friends who raised money to enable us buy seeds and fertilizer on time. The children at school feed on the same maize we harvested last year, too the RUSH group- especially the HIV and widows and orphans in the group. Please pray that this year we get the best harvest- as it is our seventh year in Kakamega- number of complexion. Zoe she is 25 years old girl. She is very good agriculturist. She planted tomatoes on a small portion in our garden which has given good yield. Because of this we have asked her to find time and teach our agriculture group.
TAILORING:
As our seventh year, we have decided to have a graduation for the girls who completed their course and passed to be given a gift of machine to go and start a small business to support themselves. You might have heard Joan mention this to you- thus- why. For that reason, you are most welcome physically to come and attend the ceremony or support in any way God enables you. We have also boys now in tailoring class which is good.
CARPENTRY:
This time we have 6 boys but doing well despite the few ups and down we have experienced, but without giving up, God has made things straight again. For this reason we request you when you come to work with us, to support us, as a group not individual, for we do not have the same level of understanding. So please encourage unity in your visits and God will bless us.
FOOTBALL:
This is one area that we need your support, the boys are doing well in all their games. The team qualified this year to play nation wide league that we are unable to move due to financial constrain. It is our prayer that we get people or a person who is interested in football to help us move the team to premier league next year. Please we need your help, we do not have balls and uniforms. Anyone interested to work with us, please you are welcome to this department.
We might not be able to mention all we have done or you have done but let us end there. With lots of love and prayers from Lucy and Andrew and RUSH Group.
